Note Basics

Get Started!

The simplest note is a combination of text and equations where the result should appear after the equals symbol. Examples of equations that meet these requirements:

5+6*7=
sqrt(35)=
101_b+25A_h=
(3;25)+(4;@15)=
stddev({15;4;3;25};1)=

Selecting (CALC) will insert the result for each of these equations following the equals symbol.

Since a note can combine text and equations this page could be copied into MathPoint, you could select the (CALC) and all of the above equations would return results following the equals symbol while none of the text would be altered. The only rule is that equations must reside on their own text line. They can automatically wrap to the next line but cannot contain a return in the middle of the equation.

Return Key As (CALC)

Enter an equation, followed by the equals key, followed by the return key will simulate selecting CALC. This is a shortcut to make performing rapid calculations faster.

Chaining Calculations

It is possible to chain calculations on the same text line. For instance, if you wanted to know the intermediate result in 15*2.5 / 25 you could do the following:

15 * 2.5 = / 25 =

Functions & Data Types

MathPoint includes hundreds of math functions covering areas of mathematics including powers, logs, trig, dates, logic, finance statistics, calculus and more. These functions are available by selecting the ∆ on the keypad.

In addition, MathPoint can receive input and display output in the following forms: real numbers, integers, fractions, feet-inches, complex numbers, tables, matrices and dates.
